The Better Boards Leadership Training is designed to help nonprofit organizations build healthy, effective governing boards that strengthen their mission, increase organizational effectiveness, and prepare for long-term sustainability.
Whether your organization is growing, navigating change, or simply seeking to become more effective, this practical and interactive workshop will provide proven principles and actionable strategies that can be implemented immediately.
This training is ideal for:

- Current and emerging board members

During this one-day workshop, your leadership team will learn how to:
- Build the Four Pillars of a High-Performing Board
- Clarify the distinct roles and responsibilities of the board and Executive Director
- Strengthen the partnership between the Board Chair and Executive Director
- Develop practical governance practices that lead to long-term sustainability
- Create meaningful dashboard metrics that measure organizational health
- Align mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities

Who Should Attend?
To maximize the benefit of this training, each organization is encouraged to register 2–4 participants, including:
- Executive Director or CEO
- Board Chair (or future Board Chair)
- One or two additional board members
Learning together allows your leadership team to return with a shared vision and a common framework for implementing what you've learned.
Participation Expectations
Participants are asked to:
- Attend the full-day workshop (9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.)
- Register as an organization
- Participate in the interactive discussions and exercises
- Bring a willingness to evaluate and strengthen your board's effectiveness
